Gearing up for the 2013 Juvenile Arthritis Conference- Join us WHEREVER you are!

In “Living with Juvenile Arthritis: A Parent’s Guide,” I talk about the importance of connecting with other JA families. Your non-JA friends and family members can be a great source of support, but there is something different about the support you receive from folks that are going through the same things that you are!

A great place to connect with other families is the Arthritis Foundation’s Juvenile Arthritis Conference. Every year, it is held in a different location in the United States. The 2013 conference will take place from July 18th to July 21st in Anaheim, California. Hundreds of families from all over the nation will come together to participate in this exciting event.

In addition to the fellowship, parents, young adults AND children have the opportunity to attend activity sessions and educational workshops tailored to their interests and age levels. Check here for a link to this year’s tentative agenda.

Sounds great right? If you can come, we would love to see you there and meet you in person! It is sure to be a great event packed full of helpful information and fun times. If you can’t, you still don’t have to miss out! The Arthritis Foundation will be streaming sessions via Conference TV for families who can’t make the trip. Until the site goes “live” on the 19th, you can see archived clips of last years conference in St. Louis, Missouri. So even if you can’t be in Anaheim, you can attend the “virtual” conference at no charge to your family.

There’s always next year too. Although the location for the 2014 conference is still under wraps, now is the time to start planning to attend. Most regional offices offer scholarship programs for families that would benefit from participating. Qualifications and deadlines vary from region to region. Contact your local office for more information, I’m sure they want to get to know you anyway!
