I Am A Top Mommy

I am a Top Mommy.

I’m not just saying that to make myself feel good (although just saying “I am a top mommy” just has a way of rolling off the tongue)

Come to think of it, maybe I am… after all I am a single mom. I am the mom of two chronically ill kids. I am a mom of two teen boys. I am still sane (for the most part) or at least that is my story and I am sticking to it. Let’s not forget, I just drove 4000 miles in one week so my kids could go to a College (football) Bowl game with their dad (ok, so maybe I’m not so sane) but that DEFINTIELY qualifies me as a top mommy? Right?

Not exactly. Admittedly, I make my share of mistakes. I’ve been a little grouchy since I have yet to recover from all that driving and lack of rest. I do my best to be a good mom, but I know there is room for improvement. I don’t always have ALL the answers (but shh!  don’t tell my kids or the ex)

That is why I look at Top Mommy. When I have a few minutes to myself, and want to see how other moms are doing it, that is where I turn.

Please click! A visit a day boosts my blog ranking at Top Mommy Blogs - The Best Mommy Blog Directory Ever!

(go ahead and click on that cute little badge, it will give me a vote!)

Top Mommy is a blog networking site just for moms (you don’t have to be a member to browse) and mom bloggers can strut their stuff. With over 4500 members and 30 categories, its easy to find whatever you are looking for. Sound interesting?  Here is more info, directly from Top Mommy:

Mom blogs can be a great way to find inspiration, ideas, tricks and best of all…  help you realize you aren’t alone in this crazy parenting adventure.

Sounds pretty good right? Since I have started blogging, I have been reading and exploring more blogs written by others. Its amazing how much good (and bad) info is out there, if you just know where to look.  Even though I love to follow other blogs about Juvenile Arthritis and special needs, sometimes I just want to get lost in some mom humor, or see what snarky things other teens are saying to their parents.

Don’t think THAT isn’t a great parenting tool. “Watch what you say to me, or I can always blog about it like this mom.” (Don’t judge, it works, and is more pleasant than screaming, and it is only slightly less effective than the “I’ll-tag-you-on-Facebook-threat.”) Top Mommy Blogs gives me a portal to it all.

It also does something else.

It is helping me to spread awareness about Juvenile Arthritis.

JA affects over 300,000 children in the US alone, it is a painful, potentially fatal disease that receives very little funding or recognition. Top Mommy is helping me change that. With your votes, Living With Juvenile Arthritis is the #1 special needs blog on Top Mommy, and the #26th overall….out of 4500 blogs!

I would love more than anything to crack the top 25 (or the top 10 if I am dreaming big) because a high ranking will bring more attention to the fact that KIDS are living with arthritis, and what a serious disease that it can be.

You can help. You can click on the Top Mommy badge once a day to “vote” for Living With Juvenile Arthritis (please click on the Top Mommy badge in the sidebar to the right)

Please vote for me. Yes, this is a shameless plug.

C’mon. Its just a click. When you get over there, if you have another minute, look around, search a few things you are interested in, and see if it is someplace that you enjoy “hanging out” as much as I have.

Sometimes living with JA means knowing when to take a mental break from it, and Top Mommy definitely can do that for me.

Hope to see you there!

    • G.S., you are too funny! I have no problem with a bit of competition- Im really hoping to get up higher on the list so that I can raise some more awareness! I love the site all on its own because it is a portal to so many great blogs that are searchable by category. Thank you for your vote!

  4. Well hello there, Top Mom! I would love to join the network too. I might look into it over the weekend when I am not so tied up with my full time job. Thank you for sharing and here’s to wishing you a great day ahead!

  6. I love reading your blog!!! Love the way you are sharing your information. My niece has JA and I the it’s very hard to kids to cope with that.
You are really a Great MOM

    • Thank you! I’m sorry your niece has JA, it is a much harder condition to manage than people realize… not just aches and pains. We have nearly lost one of my kids to it once, and it seems as though I am always holding my breath about what is going to happen next, but somehow we get through. I hope that by increasing awareness, kids will be diagnosed sooner (right now its estimated that 1 of every 250 kids has some form of the disease) and better treatments can be administered sooner, so others wont have to go through what we did. Thank you for stopping in!

I have live your story. Being a single mom running kids all over the country…it gets old fast.
But we love them so much.
Thanks for sharing all your information

    • Yes, we do love them so much don’t we? I would move heaven and earth for my kiddos. I’m glad you all are enjoying the info that I share. Thank you for letting me know, and for visiting my blog!

  8. Best of Luck to you!! You are a Top Mommy no matter what the results show. PS you also have a top blog and a great out look!

    • I try not to get too wrapped up in “results,” but having that benchmark helps to know where I stand, and of course increases visibility (and therefore awareness) for Juvenile Arthritis. Thank you for all your kind words and encouragement. I know the true test of how my blog is doing is by how much it is helping people, and I see that through the comments (especially the ones like yours) Thank you again for taking time out of your day to give me such nice feedback!

  9. awesome i’ve always wanted to be a part of that network. do you have to be a mommy to join?

    • Yes, you have to be a “mom” blogger with at least 3 months of experience. But even if you don’t join this network as a blogger, its still fun to look around. I also am a member on Sverve. Have you looked into that one? I love it too, but for completely different reasons. If you click my Sverve badge in the sidebar it will take you over there. I also wrote a post on it a few days ago if you are interested.

  10. I gave you a click. I know the struggles of childhood arthritis all too well. I was first diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at only 6 years old, hereditary, you see. The struggles of being a kid and suffering that pain is something that very few people understand. I sacrificed my mobility at an older age to be normal and play sports…but again…most people wouldn’t understand that.

    • I’m sorry that you had to grow up with JRA- it’s not easy. I’ve witnessed it firsthand in my own children. You’re right, most people don’t understand. I hope that I can bring more understanding through raising awareness.

  11. Wow, I didn’t know what juvenile arthritis was at all or that there was anything like it. You got my vote!

  24. What a great way to connect to others that are of like mind. I personally don’t have kids at home anymore, but I sincerely wish that when I did there was a group of women who banded together like this to support each other and to write about their experiences. Now if we could create a group for kids who are grown and blame their parents for everything! LOL
